The voco Beaune, Cité des Vins opens its doors in June 2024, a few meters from the wooden curved building that houses the Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne. Guests often arrive in the late afternoon, after a tour of cellars in the historic center, a little over a kilometer away. It takes a good quarter of an hour to walk to the ramparts and Place Carnot, a detail to keep in mind if you were planning to do everything on foot from the station. In return, once you step through the door, the calm of the neighborhood is surprising.

The architecture favors light wood and clean lines, with a modern art mural that contrasts, around the corner of a corridor, with the wine-growing imagery outside. The 74 rooms are divided into standard, premium, and suites, ranging from 25 to 51 m². The bed comes as a super king size, the bathroom opens onto a walk-in shower, and a desk area includes a Nespresso machine and a safe. Some overlook a balcony, others the waterway bordering the property. They can also be set up as twin rooms, or a crib can be requested if needed.

On the ground floor, the Monaka restaurant serves seasonal French cuisine at lunch and dinner, created with chef Adeline Grattard. The wine list offers more than two hundred labels, including Burgundy and international selections, and the sommelier clearly takes pleasure in guiding guests toward one bottle rather than another. Please note that the restaurant closes on Monday and Tuesday evenings, which may lead you to book elsewhere in town on those days, giving you the chance to try one of the bistros in the center.

In the morning, the buffet runs from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., with the option of having it brought up to your room for late risers. Fresh products, homemade pastries, freshly squeezed juices: enough to last until lunch without overdoing the coffee.

Descending to the Gemology spa, the light softens all the way to the three treatment rooms (including one for two), the hammam, and the heated outdoor pool, open seasonally and extended by a sensory shower. The fitness room, with treadmills, bikes, and weight benches, remains accessible at any hour for those kept awake by jet lag.

Three seminar rooms complete the business facilities, and a free, secure parking area with 60 spaces means you do not have to circle around town, a real plus for anyone arriving by car from the highway.

One last tip before heading out: ask for breakfast on the terrace if the weather allows. The view over the vineyards in the distance is well worth the extra five minutes of waiting.
