Kyriad Beaune is located on the edge of the historic center, on the Palais des Congrès side, barely five hundred meters from the highway exit. A choice that makes sense for anyone arriving late at night, car loaded with boxes of wine bought along the way, with no desire to zigzag through the cobbled lanes to find a parking spot.

You push open the door and the lobby fireplace catches the eye first. A real fire in winter, not a decorative fake one, with a discreet bookshelf just beside it where a few novels left behind by former guests are lying around. The staff speak French, English, and Spanish effortlessly, and know how to point you toward the Hospices or the Fallot mustard factory without reciting a tourist brochure.

The rooms have recently been renovated. The palette plays black and gray against bluish and violet accents, a design choice that gives the decor a slightly dated feel while also giving it character. The bed is firm, the memory-foam pillows do what they are meant to do, and the soundproofing lives up to its promises: you hear neither the corridor nor the nearby road. Some rooms sleep up to four people, with a proper sitting area and a desk for those still working in the evening.

In the morning, head to the breakfast room. Hot and cold buffet, jambon persillé and regional cheeses set alongside the more classic pastries. There is an extra charge for this pleasure, but you leave well fueled for a day of tastings in the vineyards.

The Karousel restaurant deserves a check of the opening hours before you count on it: evening service does not run every day of the week, and it is better to reserve a table or plan a backup in town than to show up unexpectedly after a long day on the wine route.

Late in the afternoon, the shaded terrace makes a good stopping point, a glass of Burgundy in hand, before the lounge-bar area takes over when temperatures drop. In winter, that is where you settle in to extend the evening.

To reach old Beaune on foot, you need to allow for a real walk, about fifteen minutes: you are not at the foot of the Hospices, but rather a few streets away, which is still very manageable for anyone who likes to take their time along the way.

One last detail before you leave: parking is free, but in the height of the grape harvest season, it is better to arrive before nightfall to be sure of getting a spot right in front of your room.
